An update on the BFA annual conference and awards

On 24th and 25th November 2022 we were delighted to be able to attend the BFA Annual Conference and Awards Dinner held at VOX in Birmingham. Showcased as bringing all corners of the franchising community together, it provided a perfect opportunity to learn about the latest innovations, reflect on all the positive success stories and network with likeminded professionals from a whole array of different business types.

The 2-day conference was packed with speakers and exhibitors. There were keynote presentations scheduled at specific times of the day followed by breakout sessions where delegates could speak with national brands about anything and everything franchise related. It was also great to hear about the challenges that can be faced when starting up a business. Of course, there was also plenty of opportunities to network and forge new business relationships.

Personally, we felt fortunate to be able to attend some excellent keynotes which included Michael Matania who is a mental health advocate and spoke about building resilience, no burnout and relieving stress. Next was Tamara Lohan MBE who is the Founder and CEO of Mr & Mrs Smith who gave an excellent insight into building a different business. We then enjoyed the session by Chris Roberts who spoke about the importance of exit planning. Finally former Royal Marine Scotty Mills gave an economic update and spoke passionately about how to navigate the choppy waters ahead.

In the evening of the 24th and in the words of the BFA we attended the ‘Oscars’ of the franchise industry. This awards ceremony allowed everybody to celebrate the very best from the world of franchising with a key focusing of giving praise to everybody who displays a passion for the importance of ethics. There were awards for franchisees and franchisors and we would like to congratulate all the winners – https://www.thebfa.org/british-franchise-awards-2022/.

Finally, the BFA gave an update on their recent rebranding exercise and we look forward to receiving more details as a result of us being one of their professional advisors.

The BFA conference was an excellent event and we look forward to being involved again in 2025.
