Success Happens with Strong Relationships

Success happens with strong relationships

Building a profitable franchise business only comes when you have forged excellent partnerships. Clearly the most important is to have strong relationships between franchisor and franchisees but you also must generate the same with suppliers and customers. Having a harmonious approach to all business relationships will help bring success.

There are some simple steps to follow which can help to build these strong relationships:

Step 1 – be clear from the outset of what you are expecting from the relationship. By settling clear instructions, goals and expectations all parties will know exactly what is required and everybody is fully aligned.

Step 2 – honesty is always the best approach. Adopt an open line of communication with the encouragement that all parties are aligned and know what is expected. This makes it easy to share information and easily address any concerns or complaints.

Step 3 – be on hand to help when it is needed. For example, as a franchisor you need to be on hand to provide support, training and assistance whenever called upon. As a franchisee you too need to take the same approach with all key business contacts.

Step 4 – always try to be fair. Consistency is key and by maintaining a fair approach to all the key business stakeholders and partners correct rules can be followed. This ensures stability and everybody knows what is expected of each other.

Step 5 – celebrate the wins. A franchise is successful when all parties are working together in harmony therefore everybody should enjoy the good times.

The clear message is that by forming strong relationships a franchise puts themselves in the best position to be successful.

Some additional points to note about developing positive relationships are:

  • Listen to the feedback from others, especially those working within each franchise. They are working on the business every day and can provide important insights which can benefit all.
  • Don’t be too regimented, adapt to changes in the markets and adopt new technologies when appropriate.
  • When problems occur and complaints are received take a speedy approach to resolve them so that brand reputation is maintained.

Solid and reliable relationships are a win for any franchise.
